CRC Updates
1st July The Environment Agency have published new key dates, tips and guidance on how to register for the scheme. Visit the Environment Agency website to find out more... 1st April 2010: CRC came into effect on the 1st April. This means that participants have until 30 September 2010 to register for the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. Participating organisations in the private sector can nominate any of their significant undertakings (SGU) to participate in the CRC in dependently of the group. If you want to disaggregate an SGU you should register before the 30 June 2010. If for any reason you cannot meet this deadline please contact the Environment Agency. 1st February 2010: CRC participants and member companies looking to advise their clients about the CRC, may want to investigate a new service being offered by Environmental data specialists Landmark Information Group and consultancy firm Enviros, who have developed a CRC compliance workflow management and archive system called Carbon Counter. The service is initially free, to help participants understand if they are included within the scope of participating in the CRC, and to help those who are to register. Following this period, Carbon Cuter service will be based on an annual charging system based on the level of participation within the CRC. The service will retain regular snapshots of customers’ data to provide the evidence pack required for CRC audit purposes. Visit Carbon Cuter website for more details. 19th Jan 2010: The draft CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Order 2010 was laid in the UK on the 19th January. It is subject to the approval of the Administrations before it comes into force in April 2010. DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change) has published the revised CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme user guide. This guide provides a concise summary of all aspects of the CRC. It is consistent with policy in the draft CRC Order which was laid before Parliament on 19 January 2010. Visit DECCs website to download the new user guide. 4th January 2010: Three further guidance documents have been released on helping clients affected by the CRC in understanding the process of revenue recycling payments. It provides an example of the process to be used to calculate revenue recycling payments (where all participants will receive a revenue recycling payment 6 months after the sale of allowances, with the size of this payment dependent on performance under the scheme).
