Energy Centre 'open for business'

Geoengineering picThe Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB) at London South Bank University (LSBU), opened by Mayor of London Boris Johnson earlier this summer, is now up and running hosting courses and showcasing carbon reducing m&e technologies.

The Centre, which is sponsored by M&E Sustainability, showcases renewable and low carbon technologies as well as being a highly valuable teaching resource for LSBU, Kingston and City universities. Distance learning degrees and hands-on practical building services training will take place at CEREB, which is part of a major redevelopment of LSBU's campus in the Elephant & Castle area of South London.

M&E Sustainability members have priority access to the facilities of the Centre as a result of our sponsorship and if firms would like to take advantage of this unique resource they can place a request via their usual contacts at either the HVCA or ECA .

Microgeneration strategy consultation
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has launched its Microgeneration Strategy
consultation.  However, in keeping with the 'fresh' new approach of the coalition government, rather than publish a document for comment, they are looking to develop the scheme in partnership with the industry over the next five months.
"DECC wish to make sure that all those with the greatest knowledge and expertise in this field can contribute to the development of a draft strategy, which can then be widely consulted on later this year," a statement says.
The process will include round-table discussions, steering groups, and a set of four working groups.  You can read more about this initiative here and M&E Sustainability will be keeping its members informed over the coming weeks and months building up to the end of the consultation in December.

Low carbon skills
The new government is seeking our feedback on meeting the low carbon skills challenge: a consultation on equipping people with the skills to take advantage of opportunities in the low carbon and resource efficient economy
. You can look at the documents and offer your feedback here.
